Italian restaurant near Russell SquareFiena in Bloomsbury

Fiena's terrace and shopfront on Judd Street on a sunny day

Russell Square is surrounded by hotels, university buildings and some of London's best museums, and a lot of people staying or studying there end up asking the same thing: where's good to eat nearby? Fiena, our family-run Italian cafe, bar and restaurant, is a short walk north at 4 Medway Court, Judd Street, London WC1H 9QX, on the quieter, residential side of Bloomsbury between Russell Square and King's Cross.

Breakfast before the museums

We open at 08:00 every day and serve breakfast until 14:00, so there's no rush to get down before the kitchen switches over. Our breakfast menu covers everything from an English breakfast to eggs Benedict and French toast. One recent guest summed it up: Great breakfast and warm service from the staff. Enjoyed the English Breakfast and Eggs Benedict (G., Google review). Pol called us a Great brunch place: good quality, reasonable price, friendly staff. (Pol, Google review)

Lunch and dinner from midday

From midday the full main menu runs straight through to close: starters like bruschetta, caprese and baby calamari, pasta from carbonara to Linguine Fiena, risotto, six pizzas, grills and fish. There's no gap between lunch and dinner, which helps when a museum visit runs long.

A base for the area

From Judd Street, a lot of Bloomsbury is on foot:

  • Russell Square and its garden, a short walk south.
  • The British Museum on Great Russell Street, a little further on.
  • The Foundling Museum on Brunswick Square. Its next exhibition, Where We Grow: nature, nurture & childhood, runs from 17 November 2026 to 18 April 2027, according to the museum's website.
  • Coram's Fields, the children's park next door to it, open daily from 9am to 7pm and free, per Coram's Fields.
  • King's Cross and St Pancras, a few minutes north, for trains and the Eurostar.

What visitors say

Plenty of our guests are staying nearby. Matilde, who came twice in November 2025, wrote that she visited because I was staying in the area (Matilde T., Google review, translated from Italian), and she enjoyed the eggs Benedict and the fresh juice. Martin was on holiday too: Thank you all for making our stay in London one we will remember. (Martin B.-L., Google review)

“Lovely staff, delicious food, perfect location for St Pancras. Loved it”

Tracy, Google review, October 2026
